FoodSaver Vacuum-sealing Bags

These vacuum bags seal the first time and are reusable even after cleaning. A step up from the old Zip Lock vacuum seal system which has been discontinued. Never have had the problem with any bag I've tried to seal being stuck together. The vacuum seal system is great way to stop feeding your garbage can.
Work well with the Foodsaver Freshsaver Unit

I wasn't sure I would buy more bags after initially trying the Freshsaver. I already own the "real" Foodsaver and use it often for freezer storage. But I was looking for something to extend the life of opened packages of cheese, meat, and vegetables in the refrigerator. It does not work as well as the "real" vaccuum packaging, but it does remove enough air to give me a few more days before something needs to be thrown away. And I can keep re-opening it and closing it throughout the week.

With the price of fresh produce what it is, the cost of the bags is paid for rather quickly, especially if I get a few uses out of them. I have a sort of a system where I use the bag the first time with a dry product that comes out of the bag with little residue. If I am sealing something smelly and kind of moist (like thinly sliced red onions, which I slice once a week and keep for various uses) I grab a used bag because it is going to smell of onions too much to use another time.

That was the long way of saying that I found I missed having them after running out of my sample bags and I re-ordered. I do keep the Freshsaver Unit right out on the countertop plugged in and ready to go. That is the only way to use it- tucked away in a drawer I would never bother to take it out, plug it in and use the bags as intended.
Fresh bagels

These bags work great with bagels. Used to be that they got too hard to eat in a day or two. Have even put a half bagel back in the bag and sealed and kept it just as soft as the day I brought it home.
they work

bags work fine a little pricey and no good for the freezer which limits their usefullness
Works well...when the bag works

For everyday use I decided to buy the Foodsaver rechargeable appliance and it's bags and the bags work well...WHEN the bags work. Out of each box I have had several that simply would not maintain a seal even after trying all the hints. I have used the old foodsaver appliance for well over 10 years when I had tons of fruit to put up in the freezer...so I have experience in a similar product.

Since bags are rather pricey...it would be better if the quality control didn't have failures in each box. The majority of the bags have held up to daily use but it sucks to have to lose several bags due to fact they never held the seal. My uses have been primarily for storing my homemade bread...as they extend the days fresh...and better than my bread box with my peasant type breads. Ordinary you would not want to use plastic with homemade breads in such a humid climate but these bags are different. They work well with deli meats and homemade hard cheese. I *thought* when I bought these gallon bags I could use them in the freezer for rolls and pasta...but found out from reading documentation with the bags that these are not for freezer use.
