| For use with any FoodSaver machine that has an accessory port, these three plastic canisters store fruits and vegetables, dry goods like beans and coffee, and baking supplies like flour and sugar and keep them fresh after air has been vacuumed out by the machine. The canisters hold 3/4 quart, 1-1/2 quarts, and 2-1/2 quarts and are dishwasher-safe (though the lids are not). Machines the canisters can be used with include the following: Tilia 00-1400-01 FoodSaver Vac 550 Kit Vacuum Sealing System, Tilia 00-1700-00 FoodSaver Vac 1050 Kit, and Tilia 00-0312-01 FoodSaver Professional II Vacuum Sealing Kit. --Fred Brack |

Foodsaver canister top fits Pyrex storage bowl

| I recently bought both the Foodsaver three canister set and the Pyrex 4 cup storage round bowl. To my surprise, the 5 1/2 lid from the Foodsaver fits the Pyrex bowl. Pyrex glass is almost indestructible and can be stored in the refrigerator and be immediately microwaved or put in the oven. This should help those people who have written about their canisters cracking. I would also like to know if the the canisters tops fit other things. |
Vacuum seal jars, too.

Whenever I have an opened jar of spaghetti sauce, I would stick the whole jar in one of the taller container and vacuum seal it.
I also use it to "re-seal" smaller jars too. I put the jar with the lid (of the jar), but keeping the lid (of the jar) slightly unscrewed so the air can get out, put the whole thing inside the food saver canister, vacuums it, and release the air of the canister. When I hear a light "ping", I know the jar is vacuum sealed. Then I tighten the lid (of the jar) and stick it in the fridge. I have jars that I re-sealed for over six months, and when I opened it, the lid popped, indicating it was still vacuum sealed. You can do this to mason jars also, if you don't have the mason jar attachment. |

These containers are great! My three-piece set right now contains: small: fig newtons medium: ground flaxseed (its oils are very healthful, and I buy a larger bag and keep it in the freezer so the oils stay fresh for a long time) large: coffee! I love the fresh smell of the grinds when I release the vacuum each day. I just bought a second set for keeping washed greens and prepared veggies fresh- I can make a batch for a few days and save time in the kitchen in the morning. I use these more than the bags, because I prefer the economy for things I use daily. Well worth it- I hope Amazon starts carrying the universal lids and bottle sealers, too- I'd like to try them! cheers, Kathleen |

| I have owned my foodsaver for 3 years now and it works great. I bought mine at costco which came with 2 canisters that worked so well i bought these to. I have brown sugar in mine for almost a year with no troubles, it doesn't get hard like when left in the bag. Mine even went on a move form ny to Fl and did not loose their seal. You need to make sure the tops of the canisters are clean and the lids before sealing cause if food is there they will drop the seal. I bought 5 3-1/4 canisters at wal-mart to hold large boxes of cereal, instant potatoes and fresh bagles & french bread just remember to put them in the fridge for bread. |
Get the food saver and save money the day you use it

A friend had the system and uses it to save fresh fruit
she grows in her garden and from the state famrers market.
Before I got the foodsaver and additional canisters,
the store bought fresh fruit (berries) would go
bad the next day and was wasted money.
With the foodsaver, the fresh berries last over a week,
can't say past that because they are eaten by then.
Same for cheese and lettuce, lasts for two weeks by then
you are ready to buy more food to save.
Yes, it takes a bit to get used to using the machine but
it is worth it.
Cracked canister: yes, our large developed a crack at the base,
a phonecall to the 800 number got us a replacement by ups a few
days later and they did not want the defective part back.
That is customer service.
